Fireflies Cover by Marié Digby

Posted in 54 by Lex on November 18, 2009

Have you heard of the song Fireflies from Owl City? It’s a very beautiful song that talks about.. fireflies? Well, I can’t quite put the meaning of the song into words but it could be also of insomnia. Am I right or not?

Moving on, this beautiful song is even made more beautiful with Digby’s cover. Some people would have wished that she played it on the piano but I think the Guitar was a good instrument already.

It’s perfect, the cover is perfect. It does not sound wrong or stupid. She made a little mess somewhere in the middle but a cute reaction quite fixed the mess :)

Well done Marie Digby.

Marié Digby’s Breathing Underwater

Posted in music. by Lex on November 13, 2009

As I was searching through the popular website Youtube for songs or videos l_f4f5c2f842884b23b8a8d2a4d0f29cd1just to kill boredom, I remembered that Digby had a new album and I have heard only one track: Avalanche.

So I searched for all the tracks of her album Breathing Underwater. It’s a good thing mariedigbychannel provides all of Digby’s songs except for the bonus tracks exclusive for Japan which was provided by GirlzMediaRecords.

I find her album breathtaking. I find all of the songs beautiful, faultless. With moving lyrics and beautiful l_10680d499b819f94dd4c10a5fb9792acmelodies, Breathing Underwater, in my opinion, worthy of an award. Digby started in Youtube, singing covers and her own originals and right now? She’s climbing her way up though I find her climbing slow. She’s still new so we fans need to wait for more albums to see her views on Youtube reach millions. With hundreds of Youtube singers that are starting to get discovered and are already discovered (Justin Bieber, for example), Digby is running behind. Nevertheless, my loyalty lies on Digby. Are you with me?

Moving on.

My sister  have downloaded the entire album on the iPod and I noticed something upon listening to all of Digby’s songs while waiting for the electricity to come back after a few hours of hot Brownout. She has songs that reminded me of a few artists:

  • Britney Spears
  • Timbaland
  • Lady Gaga

I’m not trying to point out that maybe she’s trying to copy for I believe she is l_5fc61e971b28cb40d6c1e72b8c046ca1not. I rather believe that Digby can make her own original. I know she could.

Now, let me list (with convenient clickies of course) my favorite of the favorites.

So listen up and pray that she’ll plan a concert in the Philippines and this time, in Cebu! :D Please check my other post about Marié Digby on which she was my featured artist.

P.S Please don’t misunderstand. Digby wasn’t here. I did not interview her! *fidgets*

Genre: Acoustic, Pop, Alternative Rock

Who is she? Marié Digby (pronounced as Mar-yey) is Japanese-Irish American singer and songwriter who both plays well on guitar and piano. She was first discovered on YouTube for her cover on Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. Some of her songs were featured in the episodes of Smallville and other shows.

Why is she our Featured Artist? This obvious facts: her blood combination is unique; a mixture of good skin from the Irish and beautiful eyes and nose from the Japanese, she has this beautiful, mellow voice which a Japanese critic once described as “delivers [her voice] the wind of the spring”, she makes good songs and could pull off any cover of any song raging from Linkin Park’s, Rihanna’s, Britney Spears’, Nelly Furtado’s, and more. She is unique and really nice. Marié was interviewed by a teen magazine her in the Philippines (TotalGirl) and confessed that she keeps in touch with the comments she receives. On one of her videos on YouTube, she stated that one of her dreams was to visit and perform in the Philippines. Yay to us Filipinos!

Which is my favorite song? It’s Swoon. I love the chorus, the way she sang dsc_1748_2it and that it’s her original masterpiece! Another one is, Say It Again. This one has it’s official video already (I guess?) and it’s a must to watch and listen to this one FIRST for you to be dumbfounded and be impressed. Now go!
